Your agent, with a process it can't skip.
A session is one piece of work, from the first question to the merged pull request. Workbench walks the agent through the right steps, keeps it on topic, remembers your project, and stops to ask you whenever a decision is yours.
Five modes, then test and ship
Every session moves through the same modes, the same way in every agent. Step in at any point, or turn on Loop and let the agent move through them on its own.
Research
The agent maps your code and the problem before writing anything. Its first answer suggests a branch name for you to confirm.
Innovate
It lays out a few ways to solve the problem and talks the trade-offs through with you.
Plan
It writes a plan and a checklist, shaped by your company rules and project knowledge. Accept it as written, or edit it first if you disagree.
Execute
One click and the agent builds on its own branch, then drafts your commit message.
Review
The agent checks its own work before you do, and a quality check flags leftover secrets, debug code, and anything missing from the plan.
Test & ship
Work through a short test checklist, then stage, commit, push, and open the pull request without leaving the session.
A plan you approve before anything is committed
The agent writes its plan where you can see it, and nothing is committed until you have said yes.
- 01
The plan
Written by the agent with your rules and project context built in. Edit it if you disagree; any change asks for your approval again.
- 02
The task file
The agent keeps its checklist and progress in the session for you to follow. Switch agent mid-task and it goes along, so nothing is lost.
- 03
The commit lock
Commit stays locked until the plan is approved and the quality check shows no serious issues. Loop handles both for you.
One session, one topic
Every session keeps a short brief: what it's about, what's in scope, and what isn't. If the agent starts drifting into something unrelated, it stops and asks.
Focused sessions mean smaller pull requests that are easier to review.
Start a new session
Opens a fresh session for the new topic, with your request already filled in.
Allow once
Lets this one detour through and carries on.
Allow for this session
Relaxes the check for the rest of the session.
It remembers your project
01
Project memory in every step
Each time the agent works, it gets the few notes that matter for that step, not everything you have.
02
A running session summary
Workbench keeps a live note of the goal, progress, and open questions, so the agent never loses the thread.
03
Switch agents mid-task
Plan with one agent and build with another. The summary and the task file go with the work.
04
Learns as it goes
When a session finishes, its key facts are saved back to Knowledge automatically, so the next one starts smarter.
Run your sessions from Slack
Connect your own Slack bot and steer Workbench from your phone. No public URL needed, and only the people you allow can use it.
01
Start and steer sessions
Start a session, turn on Loop or Mesh, check status, or stop the agent with a slash command or a simple menu.
02
Answer the agent
When the agent asks a question, reply in Slack with the number of your choice.
03
One thread per session
Each session gets its own thread with status, mode changes, ready-to-test alerts, and pull request updates.
04
Act on reviews
Run a review, see findings, comment, resolve threads, or send fixes to a session, right from Slack.
05
Safe by default
Anything that posts to GitHub or tells the agent to start building asks you to confirm first. Secrets are hidden from messages.
06
Make it yours
Name your bot and pick your own slash command.
When it needs you, it asks clearly
When a decision is yours, the agent pauses and shows a card with the options and its recommendation. Click one and it carries on.
Everything else in a session
01
Clear questions
When the agent needs a decision, you get a card with options to click.
02
See why it changed
Click a reason in the timeline and the matching files and lines light up.
03
Several sessions at once
Each session gets its own copy of the repo, so parallel work never collides.
04
Many repos, one session
Work across connected repos and open a pull request in each with one click, all linked together.
05
Drafted for you
The agent drafts the commit message, and the PR writer drafts the pull request description.
06
Know the cost
See how full the session is and roughly what it has cost so far.
07
Talk instead of type
Dictate your message. Speech becomes text on your machine, and nothing sends until you press send.
08
Line up your next message
Type while the agent is busy. Your message waits in line, and you can edit it before it goes.
09
Pick up after a crash
Interrupted work resumes from History with its state intact.
Give your agent a process.
Download Workbench, open a repo, and start your first session in minutes.
